As part of the advocacy for proper nutrition of a child in his/her First 1,000 Days of Life, the BIDANI Network Program-UPLB took part in the Juana Know learning activity organized by students of the UPLB College of Development Communication (CDC), held last April 28 in Barangay Malinta, Los Baños, Laguna.
The students of DEVC 136 (Multi-media Materials Production and Design) invited Ms. Belinda Lalap, Participative Nutrition Enhancement Approach (PNEA) Coordinator of UPLB BIDANI, to talk about breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and proper childhood nutrition on the first 1,000 days of a child.
Ms. Lalap reminded mothers in attendance that breastmilk is already sufficient for babies six months old and below. From six months of age onwards, mothers can then introduce nutritious complementary food for their child.

The KALINGA mix was also introduced to the mothers who attended the learning event, alongside the demonstration on how to cook KALINGA congee. KALINGA is a supplementary feed mix made out of rice, mungbean, and sesame seeds.
Juana Know was organized as part of the First 1,000 Days of Life campaign spearheaded by DEVC 136 CD-2L this second semester, academic year 2017-2018 under their laboratory instructor, Assistant Professor Avril Madrid.
