Two staff members of the BIDANI Network Program – a University Research Associate and a University Extension Associate – were recognized as outstanding researcher and outstanding extension personnel during the 45th Foundaton Day and 2019 Thanksgiving of the UPLB College of Human Ecology.
Ms. Ma. Charina Maneja, URA II and the coordinator for the Barangay Management Information System (BMIS), was awarded the 2019 CHE Outstanding Researcher (REPS category).
“Ms. Maneja’s researches on the utilization of nutrition management information systems at the local level enabled municipalities and barangays to harness the full potential of e-governance through data and information management. … BMIS is also contributing to the enhancement of monitoring of the barangays’ nutrition situation through its integration with the Operation Timbang (OPT) Plus Tool of the National Nutrition Council (NNC),” the citation for Ms. Maneja said.
Meanwhile, Ms. Belinda Lalap, UEA II and the coordinator for the Participative Nutrition Enhancement Approach (PNEA), was awarded as the 2019 CHE Outstanding Extension Personnel (REPS category.”
Ms. Lalap was recognized “for having been active in extension activities, particularly in providing technical assistance to various BIDANI areas, network member universities, and partner national and local government agencies; as a resource person in various capacities; initiatives in designing innovative interventions along the national and local nutrition goals and objectives; and for contributing to the achievement of the vision and goals of CHE in public service.”
The awards were presented to the recipients during the 45th Foundation Day Awarding Ceremonies and 2019 Thanksgiving Program of the College of Human Ecology, held last 13 December 2019 at the Centennial Center for Digital Learning, UP Open University.
