UPLB BIDANI holds online training on BIDP preparation and reformulation

OPRAP Zoom

UPLB BIDANI has successfully implemented and conducted the Online Capacity Development Program for the Barangay Development Council/Program Planning and Implementing Committee (BDC/PPIC) in the Preparation and Reformulation of the Barangay Integrated Development Plan (BIDP) 2020-2022 on 19-23 October 2020. The asynchronous capacity development program was participated in by barangay local government units (LGUs) from the Municipality of Rizal, Laguna namely: Antipolo, Laguan, Pauli 2, Pook, Tala, and Tuy.

The COVID-19 pandemic has halted the implementation of the majority of BIDANI’s extension activities because of the travel restrictions imposed by the National Interagency Task Force (IATF). However, after careful planning and consideration of connectivity limitations of the BIDANI’s partner barangay LGUs and other stakeholders, UPLB BIDANI has decided to implement an online training program.

Overall, it aimed to provide technical assistance to the participating catchment barangay LGUs to re-formulate their three-year Barangay Integrated Development Plan (BIDP) for 2020 to 2022. Members of the expanded BDC/PPIC, such as the Punong Barangay/Barangay Chair, Barangay Councilors/Kagawad, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chair and Councilors, Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Barangay Secretary, and Barangay Treasurer, among others.

The UPLB BIDANI converted the PowerPoint presentations and other learning materials it usually uses during face-to-face trainings into pre-recorded video materials with audio. These were then uploaded to a designated Facebook Group where target participants may watch or listen to the materials at their most available schedule.

The online capacity development activity consisted of four modules with different topics with corresponding outputs that were requested from the participants to be submitted before the end of the training activity.

Some participants expressed that they were adjusting in this new mode of UPLB BIDANI’s online capacity development activity because they were used to getting field visits and face-to-face assistance from the BIDANI staff. Some also expressed that they were thankful for the continued support of BIDANI to their Barangay and that they also continue learning something new that they can use to serve their constituents.

John Louie Alad, Barangay Councilor of Brgy. Antipolo said.

Pauli 2 said.
