Convention Program

JULY 12 – 13, 2023

Umali Auditorium, SEARCA, University of the Philippines Los Baños

The Barangay Integrated Development Approach for Nutrition Improvement (BIDANI) is a comprehensive nutrition-in-development strategy program prioritizing the improvement of the nutritional status of Filipinos to achieve rural development.

BIDANI traces its roots in the Nutrition Improvement Model (NIM) formulated in 1978 by the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). In the year 2000, the University of the Philippines Board of Regents formally institutionalized BIDANI in UPLB and UP Visayas. BIDANI serves as the academe’s unique and continuing contribution to national development. At present, there are eight member SUCs under the BIDANI Network Program spanning 795 barangays nationwide.

This 2023, the BIDANI Network Program is celebrating its 45th anniversary. As such, a convention themed “BIDANI@45: Boosting Positive Impact through Revitalized Partnerships and Sustainable Practices” will be held to celebrate the achievements of the Program and share the best practices of implementing SUCs. The event will also gather LGU representatives and nutrition stakeholders to present their experiences in implementing the BIDANI innovative strategies in their communities. The convention will be structured into three sessions aligned with the main thematic idea. Session 1 is themed “BIDANI Best Practices and Challenges”, Session 2 is themed “BIDANI’s Contribution to Community Development”, and Session 3 is themed “Revitalizing BIDANI Partnerships and Fostering Collaborations”. Each session ultimately seeks to inspire and boost the SUCs commitment in working towards a unified goal — Nutrition Improvement.
