UPLB, Los Baños, Laguna — On 21 March 2023, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Rizal, Laguna led by Sangguniang Bayan Secretary Mr. Marc Louie Almario and other members of the Sangguniang Bayan Honorable Christopher Jhune S. Isles, Mario B. Nicolas, John Louie A. Alad and John Iriel M. Asacta met with the UPLB-BIDANI to discuss the sustainability of BIDANI innovative strategy in their LGU. The UPLB-BIDANI re-presented the BIDANI program and its innovative strategies — the Barangay Integrated Development Approach (BIDA), Barangay Management Information System (BMIS), and the Participative Nutrition Enhancement Approach (PNEA). Mr. Almario shared that their LGU will be enacting a municipal ordinance that will strengthen and sustain the collaboration between their LGU and UPLB-BIDANI and the implementation of BIDANI strategy in the municipality.
The LGU of Rizal is a catchment municipality of UPLB-BIDANI since 1996, covering all the 11 barangays. However, the number of UPLB BIDANI’s catchment barangays was narrowed down to six (6) catchment barangays in 2016. Nonetheless, all the 11 barangays in the municipality have Barangay Integrated Development Plans and BMIS Software which were facilitated and established through the BIDANI extension program.
